Supreme Court Reverses Certification of Mega-Class of Wal-Mart Employees

The U. S. Supreme Court today reversed the Ninth Circuit's certification of a mega-class of plaintiffs against Wal-Mart, effectively ending the class-action lawsuit that has generated headlines for several years.  The court said that the plaintiffs failed to identify any corporate policy that might have been responsible for alleged gender discrimination against workers at thousands of Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores nationwide.

A detailed analysis of the Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. v. Dukes decision and its practical implications will be posted soon on Workplace Update.
